New construction – an investment in quality and the future

SSC AG recently began operations at a new address, “Thannäcker 29”. With over 70 percent more capacity and optimised working conditions, the owner-operated company is reacting to increasing demand for quality Swiss products in rail vehicle construction. At the location in Goldach (CH), a modern administrative area and ample warehouse space are now available. That allows the Swiss Shielding Corporation, under the management of Marcel Fehr, to fulfil all the prerequisites for quickly processing project orders and developing supply chain management structures.

Watt d´Or – an award for excellence in energy

Innovative Swiss companies that make an impressive contribution to the future of energy are honoured each year by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy with the “Watt d’Or”, the seal of approval for excellence in energy.

Against this background, with a circle of experts surrounding company founder Ernst Fehr, SSC was able to achieve a fantastic triumph. Because the isolation material SSC-Q1 was used in the NINA multiple unit train modernisation programme, it was possible to achieve significant savings in energy. In 2019, the NINA multiple train unit was crowned the winning project of the “Watt d’Or” in the “Energy-efficient mobility” category.

As one of the participating and honoured companies, SSC sets new standards for practical solutions in railway carriage construction. The key point was to make the operation of the vehicle as energy-efficient as possible: as of 2020, the electricity consumption of the trains must be calculated due to the “effective values” instead of set at a flat rate. With the SSC-Q1 isolation concept, it was possible to demonstrably reduce energy consumption by approximately 30% in comparison to other isolation materials.

Despite coronavirus: step by step success

SSC AG delivers outstanding performance in a highly competitive rail vehicle market and sets new standards for product solutions even in the “Year of Coronavirus”. Over the past months, we were therefore able to deliver great successes once again and – despite this unprecedented time – remain highly motivated in our work. And as before, we remain closely attuned to the needs of our customers.

From luggage racks to isolation to side wall tables and cantilevers: Whether SIEMENS, Stadler Pankow Berlin and Stadler Poland or SKODA … they all value our reliability and quick response times. Best of all, however, is our exceptional know-how in train construction.
